New Camcorder

After much deliberation and a year of not having a camcorder, we have purchased a new one. Our old one, a JVC(which we are convinced should change their name to POS) started malfunctioning after only a couple of years of use. It turns out that it was a very common issue that many of the JVC owners had and JVC was charging to fix it! Basically it would say the lens cap was on when it wasn't, and wouldn't show anything on the screen. Technically, it was the CCD part of the camera that was malfunctioning and apparently there is a class-action lawsuit against JVC on this line of products. Not wanting to miss another moment of capturing our kids lives on tape, especially since it broke when Jonas was little and we missed so much of his life thus far, we splurged and bought this:



Canon FS11 Flash Memory Camcorder



We LOVE it. It's so convenient to not mess with tapes or dvds, which means not having to rewind or ffw a tape or worry about recording over something. Plus, it may just come in handy that it can record 6 hrs of footage, instead of the usual 30 mins to an hour that the tape/dvd setup boasts, because recording a birth may take more than a half hour. At least I really hope the birth is more than 30 minutes!!!

So everyone can look forward to some snippets of family footage being posted soon!!!

Cucumbers - lush and full of cucumbers


Our DAILY picks (we bring in on average 5 really large cucumbers. Some of them are 8-10 inches long and really thick) Anyone have a good cucumber recipe????


Watermelons...this is one of like 6 so far. It's bigger than Jonas' head.


Loads of Peppers...green, red and jalepeno...theres about 12 plants and like 3-4 on each one


Tomato forest - we bring in tons of cherry (although Madelyn usually eats them all before bedtime!) our first beefsteak ones are now red and there is another kind I didn't even know we had, it's like a cherry beefsteak hybrid.


My poor green beans got eaten and not by us. We were keeping up with picking them pretty well, and then Maggie destroyed half of them chasing a rabbit and then something started eating the leaves and well....

6 years already!

I know I'm late in posting this but better late than never!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US!

It's been 6 loooooooooooooooooong years LOL

No seriously, it's been the most wonderful and exciting years of my life. I can't believe it's been 6 years already. I remember when we first met and how hard I had to try to get Jeremy to notice me. Finally, after months, I hog tied him and convinced him to take me to prom. Look how cute we were!


Then we both graduated, him from college after his 6 year stint and me from high school. He was definitely my high school sweetheart and I have notebooks full of various cursive writings that stated "Mrs. Dana Gerrits" to prove it. Little did HE know, that I would stick around and wait for him to figure it out.

Fun at the Beach!

sorry so many! We had a blast going up to Lake Michigan yesterday. The actual trip was horrid. We almost got in an accident (very sudden freeway stop complete with screeching tires and praying the cars behind us don't rearend), couldn't find a place for me to eat (it's amazing how hard it is to find fast food that's not full of crappy carbs!), kids went bonkers when we stopped at Target for supplies and we got lost because the freeway was closed like 5 miles before our exit. On the way home we saw a car ON FIRE. It had a little explosion when we drove by too, I was SO kicking myself for leaving the camera in the trunk!

So most of the beach pix were taken with my anniversary present (55-200mm lens), it's the first time I've been able to get such good pix just sitting at my seat and it also has a cover thingie for the bright sun, usually my beach pix are horribly over exposed.

First...my 28week pregnant pic and yes I feel just how I look. Tired, huge and did I mention tired?
